Tillandsia argentea (meaning Silver) grows as an epiphyte on trees in dry woodland habitats in Mexico, Guatemala, Cuba and Jamaica.
It is a small species with adult plants being around 10 to 12cm across. The flower spike is smooth (glabrous) bright Red and has small, Violet, tubular flowers.
As with most fine leafed, or heavily trichomed species this plant needs good air-movement to assist in quick drying between its regular misting. It can be grown in dappled shade or full sun.
