Also known as T. brachycaulos abdita, this species colours up fantastically during its flowering stage.
Native to Mexico and Central America it grows epiphytically in dry forests and scrub lands.
This species is famous for being one of the most vivid and colourful Tillandsia’s. The foliage turns intense red and then produces lovely purple, tubular flowers that contrast beautifully with the foliage.
It grows well in high light levels with corresponding more frequent watering. This species grows larger and more impressive when grown as single plants as opposed to being left to grow into a clump.
