Aechmea orlandiana 'Bert' is a cultivar of the cross between A. fosteriana and orlandiana. Introduced by M. B. Foster in 1945 and named after his son. The plant has great markings grows very large, has a striking inflorescence, and can color up during its flowering stages if grown in strong enough light. These Aechmea orlandiana hybrids are crying out to be mounted on a nice piece of cork or tree fern. Ive saw fantastic specimens growing on palms and trees in gardens in Florida on my latest trip.
