Aechmea cylindrata is native to South Eastern Brazil. It is a popular ornamental because it has nice bright green leaves and tall flower spikes with red to pink bracts and bright blue flowers.

Aechmea cylindrata is very easy to grow in a pot with a normal Bromeliad mix of peat and potting bark, or it could be grown mounted with pleanty of medium. It wants to be grown out of direct sun. As with all 'tank type' Bromeliads the tanks can be kept with some fresh water in them and washed out every now again.

I offer a few near flowering size rosettes.

My air plants

I was delighted to receive my air plants delivery. I opened them tenderly and read all your care guidance, bought a fertiliser spray and a few glass balls with nice holes. I have had them in my study and sprayed daily. Today I moved some of them to our vertical green wall outside. It gets the morning sun only but is sheltered. I also bought Spanish moss pieces and trailing ferns. I am very excited to see some of them to flower. In fact, one of them is in blossom- blue/red flower. It is a new hobby for me. Thank you, Andy!
