Neoregelia spectabilis is a particularly nice species Neoregelia. Commonly known as the Finger nail Bromeliad beacause of the pink tips to the leaves. It is native to the Southern Brazilian Rainforest where it grows as an epiphyte.

Neoregelia spectabilis (spectabilis meaning spectacular or showy) has very nice leaves with silver/grey striped on green to red undersides and mid green with pink 'finger nails' on the uper side. The flowers are born in the rossette and have red or purple bracts and blue flowers. It will take bright light but possibly not full sun. An average Bromeliad potting mix of peat and potting bark is suitable.
