Tillandsia jionesii is a 2008 newly described species from Brazil. It has wonderfull dark purple leaves, red flower spikes and deep blue/purple flowers that open to reveal the yellow pollen inside. the plant is similar in apperance to T. aeranthos.
This is a very rarely offered species. Otherwise easy to grow with bright light and regular misting.
I have a few nice flowering size plants available at a new lower price.
I chose Andy's Air Plants as he won a gold at Chelsea, and I have not been disappointed. I have been back three times now over the last 2 or 3 years and each time the plants have arrived promptly, well parcelled and in very good condition. I love my new Air Plants.
Arrived in perfect condition with a flower spike, three flowers are fully out as I type this with more to come, if that's not a happy plant I don't know what is!, the form and leaf colours are stunning in their own right, but to get one of these rare plants and it flowering within a few weeks is a very special thing to me!, top quality!
As with the other reviewer, mine arrived in perfect condition and with a flower spike. This is a beautiful, unusual species with pretty purple-tinged leaves and colourful flowers. From its colour it's easy to guess it needs lots of light.
Arrived in great condition with a flower spike. The flowers have opened and are a beautiful purple; lovely contrast with the deep pink flower spike.
